Are you passionate about capturing memories, designing captivating layouts, and telling stories through images? Do you want to be part of the team that creates the lasting legacy of Canyon Lake Middle School? Then the Yearbook & Digital Graphic Media Design class is for you!
We're looking for dedicated and creative students to join us in crafting the 2025-2026 CLMS Yearbook. This isn't just a class; it's a chance to document our school's history and develop valuable digital media skills.
What You'll Learn & Do:
In Yearbook & Digital Graphic Media Design, you'll:
- Learn the fundamentals of graphic design using industry-standard software (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
- Develop photography skills, including composition, lighting, and editing.
- Master layout design and page creation.
- Write compelling captions and stories that capture the essence of our school year.
- Collaborate with classmates to produce a high-quality yearbook.
- Gain experience in digital media production and project management.
- Learn about digital file management.
- Experience real-world deadlines.
Course Description:
This year-long course will teach you the essential skills of digital graphic design and yearbook production. You'll learn to plan, design, and create a comprehensive yearbook that reflects the spirit of CLMS. From capturing events to designing layouts, you'll be involved in every step of the process. This course emphasizes creative problem-solving, teamwork, and meeting deadlines.
Students will be expected to use the internet and Office 365/Canvas to collaborate, research, and submit work. Students will be using Adobe Creative Cloud products. There may be homework assignments that include photography, writing, and design. Students are expected to use class time wisely and ask for help when they need it.

To help you prepare for your interview, here are some possible questions:
- What is your motivation for being in Yearbook?
- Yearbook takes a lot of personal responsibility and initiative to plan, photograph, and design pages. Explain how this is something that you can see yourself accomplishing.
- Are you willing to occasionally "work" during your break and lunch? (To photograph events, work fundraising booths, or meet deadlines)
- Explain why we should choose you for Yearbook?
- What are you hoping to gain from being in Yearbook?
- Please let us know if there is anything else you would like us to know about yourself to help us make our decision. It is a good idea to have something to tell us here.
