Parents and Guardians,
Welcome! I am excited to begin the 2019-2020 school year. I look forward to meeting all of my students and their families. I encourage you to reach out to me any time you have any concerns. I look forward to working with you so that your child has a happy and productive year.

Welcome! I can't wait to meet you. Know that we will work hard this year. I will continue to nurture your love of reading and writing for those of you that love it already. For those of you that don't, my hope is that you will or that at the end of the year you can say "I've got this! I can be successful in language arts when I practice what I learned." We will work on our character, growth mindset, and critical thinking skills. We are going to have an amazing year.

Level Up Tutorial Notes for Sentences, Fragments, and Run-ons - Log on to your Clever account. Then, go to Holt McDougal Online. Click on Student Resources. Click on Level Up Tutorials. Read along with the tutorial and interact with the pictures, features, and exercises. Then, complete the practice quiz at the end of the tutorial. On the second read, complete your tutorial notes.

School Uniform Debate - Article with annotations, Comprehension Questions, and Multiple Choice Check will be collected tomorrow. We ran out of time today.
 
Daily Language Review - Cut out the notes (boxes). You received four pages today. Glue them on to the appropriate pages. They have page numbers. It would be best if you don't cut off the page numbers. 
 
Complete the following sections:
Tuesday # 1 and Thursday #3 for Week 1-6. In class we completed about 2-3 together. Yes, the annotations must be present for you to receive credit.

School Uniform Debate - Comprehension Tasks. Annotate the article using the checklist provided. Be sure to follow directions. Complete the comprehension questions. Restate part of the question in your response. Then, complete the short multiple quiz. Use process of elimination. This assignment was a class assignment on 8/29. You had the whole period on 8/29. You've have every day since then to ensure that it has been completed. Turn it in tomorrow.

Notebook Cover Page - Design a cover for your notebook on a separate sheet of white paper (computer paper). The focus of the page is Positive Thinking/ Positive Attitude. You will receive a score for how well you can follow directions and how much effort you put into the assignment. I have gone over coloring expectations. I have attached the scoring guide/checklist. Please refer to it for support.

Partner Interview Presentation Visual/ Poster - You must have your visual ready. Without your visual you will not be able to present. Your visual is worth 50 homework points. Your presentation is worth 50 project/assessment points.
