1. Q.O.D.-By reading pages 50-51, tell me how life on farms and cities during colonial times was different.  How was it similar?  Please write a minimum of 4 sentences.

1. Q.O.D.-How might attitudes have changed on social issues such as crime and punishment, education, religion, etc. changed?  In what ways are they the same? Pick two topics to discuss.  Write anywhere from 4 to 6 sentences.
2. In groups of 4, students picked the most pressing issue that faces Americans today.  Say how it hasn't changed over time.  Discuss how it is different by today's standards.  Someone must serve as a speaker for the group.  They were given three two cards.  Two cards were to be used to discuss whatever they wanted in relation to the topic discussed.  The third card was used to vote on the issue that they wanted to share with the class.  One student served as a representative of the group.  Their job was to share with the class

1. Q.O.D.-How were the founders of the colony of Virginia able to get so wealthy? What allowed them to continue to stay so prosperous for so long? (per. 6)
2. Teacher modeled, by looking at a student's work, the correct way to write a summary.
3. Students took the 13 Colonies Test.
4. Students were given time to work on the short answer questions in preparation for the Chp. 3 test which will be this Thursday.

1. Q.O.D.-What was Lord Baltimore and/or his successors able to or attempted to accomplish in Maryland?  Provide evidence to support your answer. This is a new concept.  So, students will need to read page 44.
2. Students watched short clips on Maryland and Virginia.
3. With their ABC's colony page, students did T to V for Virginia and Q to S for Maryland.
4. Teacher read and discussed page 45.

1. Q.O.D.-Think about the colonies of New York and Pennsylvania. How are they similar?  In what ways were they different?
2. For the ABC's colony page, students did J to L for New York and M to P for Pennsylvania.
3. Teacher, with the students' help, guided the students into seeing the similarities and differences between the two colonies.
4. Students worked on compare and contrast paragraph #1.

1. Q.O.D.-Who was Thomas Hooker?  How was his idea of government different from that of Massachusetts?
2. Students finished their graffiti wall assignment.
3. Students and/or teacher read pages 42 to 43 in their textbook.
4. Students watched a short clip on Pennsylvania and one on New York.
5. Students began working on compare and contrast paragraph #1.

1. Q.O.D.-Who founded the colony of Rhode Island? What beliefs and/or values were important to him? Why might he have been looked down upon for his beliefs? Hint, think about the Puritans in Massachusetts.
2. Students watched a short clip on Connecticut.
3. Students and/or teacher read page 41 of their textbook.
4. Students started on the Graffiti Wall assignment.
5. In the ABC's colonies page, they did letter G to I for Connecticut.
6. Teacher showed students what a 1, 2, 3, and 4 was for the Q.O.D. Also, students listened to several Q.O.D.'s from today and voted on what score they thought I should give it.

1. Q.O.D.#3-Why was the colony of Massachusetts founded? Would you have wanted to live in this colony?  Why or why not?
2. Students watched a short clip on Rhode Island.
3. Students, in their journals, made a flag for Roger Williams.  It must contain the following: his initials, 2 symbols that represent him, and an explanation, in sentence form, of everything shown on the flag.
4. Students wrote D through F on Rhode Island for their ABC's of the colonies page in their journal.

1. Q.O.D. #2-Describe the geography of the New England States.  What kinds of jobs or businesses existed in this area of colonial America?
2. Students watched Why 13 Colonies? by Schmoop
3. Students took notes on the government of the colonies.
4. Students added the ABC's of the colonies page to their journals which was on page 5.
5. Students read page 39.  Then, they wrote sentences that started with letters A through C about Massachusetts.
6. Teacher read and discussed about the colony of Rhode Island.

1. Q.O.D.-What do you like about history? Why?  What do you dislike about history? Why?
2. Students made a table of contents page on pages 1 and 2 of their journals.  There is 3 columns labeled as follows: date, assignment, page number.
3. The following 5 assignments were added to the assignment section: 13 colonies map (pg. 3), characteristics of 13 colonies (pg. 4), ABC's of 13 colonies (pg. 5), early colonial gov't notes (pg. 6) and Q.O.D. #1 (pg.7)
4. On page 3, students glued in a map of 13 original colonies.  Then, they labeled all of the 13 colonies by looking at page 36 of their textbook.
5. On page 4, they divided their paper in 3 with the following three sections: New England Colonies, The Middle Colonies, and The Southern Colonies. Students wrote 3 to 4 characteristics of these regions.  It was okay to write bullets for this section.
6. Students watched a short clip on the New England states.
