1. Q.O.D.-Look at the Should the U.S. Annex Texas section on 301. If you were in charge of the U.S. gov't, would you have annexed Texas? Why or why not? Write 3-4 sentences.
2. We either started or finished our Socratic Seminar #1 on whether or not CA missions need to be preserved in light of the jaded past that they represent.

1. Q.O.D.-When the Spanish came to CA, what were two things that they did to Native Americans? Was this fair? Why or why not? Please write 3-4 sentences.
2. Students saw a short montage of all of the 21 CA missions
3. Students made the title Reasons For and Against Saving CA Missions title in their Table of Contents in their journal. Students made a T-chart with one side that is labeled Reason For Saving the CA Missions and the other side is Reasons Against Saving the CA missions. Each side was numbered 1 to 3.
4. Then, students engaged in a Socratic Seminar regarding this topic.

5. Students started on their Mountain Man Tall Tales. Obj: Create a mountain story that is at least a page long. The larger than life the tale the better. Be prepared to read your story to others. Stories should be about something that could of potentially happened. Stories should have a title.

1. Q.O.D.- What type of relationship existed between the U.S. and Native Americans during the Jacksonian Era?
2. Students read the American Indian Removal section on page 272 to  Southern American Indians on the Trail of Tears section on 275. With this, students were asked to answer 2 questions. 1. How did officials first plan to acquire the land from American Indians? 2 Why do you think this plan to buy land did not work?
3. Students read the Southern American Indians on the Trail of Tears on pages 275 to 276. Students were asked to summarize what the Trail of Tear was as well as the reaction that Native American tribes had to it. (4-5 sentences)
 
Note: Students that were testing were excused from these assignment.
