1. Students made the Making Predictions Chart in their journals. Basically, there is two columns. On the left, students had to copy the following: Look at the illustration of the Lewis and Clark expedition. What do you think will be some positive and negative aspects of the expedition? Why?

3. Students with the teacher's help read pages 202-204.
4. Students watched a short clip on The Louisiana Purchase.
5. Students made Investigation #1 page. It had 3 questions which they copied. They are: 1. During Washington's Presidency, Spain threatened to close the ports of New Orleans to American Ships. How and when was this problem resolved? What threatened the agreement in 1800? 2. Why did the treaty between Spain and France worry Thomas Jefferson? 3. How did the Louisiania Purchase improve U.S. National Security?

2. Summary #2-A Free Market Economy-In 4-5 sentences summarize what a free market economy is. Summaries should start with a main idea and be followed by 3-4 supporting details.
3. Students finished reading Jefferson Scales Back Government on pages 197-198.
4. Students created Monumental Changes chart in their journals.

2. Student and teacher read pages 194-195. Stop at Why Was the Presidential Election of 1800 important?
3. Students read Why Was the Presidential Election on page 195-196. With this, they watched a short clip on The Election of 1800
4. Students watched a short clip on the political crisis in Venezuela in order to compare and contrast the peaceful transition of power that existed in the U.S. during the election of 1800. 
5. Students and teacher read How Did Jefferson Redefine Gov't on pages 196-197. We stopped at Jefferson Scales Back Government.

3. Students and teacher read page 193. Specifically, they read What Were the Alien and Sedition Acts?
4. Teacher reviewed with students what the 1st amendment says.
5. Summary #1-The Alien Act-In 4 to 5 sentences, summarize the act listed. Summaries start with a main idea and/or are followed by 3-4 supporting details.
6. Sedition Act Freewrite-After looking at the 1st amendment, explain how the Sedition Act contradicts the 1st amendment. This should be about 1/4 to a 1/3 of a page long.

4. Students started working on Conversations With History assignment. Obj: In groups of 3,create a conversation between an ordinary person, Hamilton, and Jefferson. Both Hamilton and Jefferson will argue how they feel about particular political issues. Groups will consist of of 3 people. 1 person will be Hamilton, 1 will be Jefferson, and 1 person with an average, ordinary person. Conversations should be 1 page long and will be presented in front of class.
