1. Q.O.D.-Read The Story Begins section on page 144. Why is the letter so confident that there will be a quick end to the war? What evidence from the quotation supports this confidence? Please write 3-4 sentences.

Students did #1. The colonists did not have an army established before the start of the war. #3. The British had a strategy that they thought would win the war.

1. Q.O.D.-Name some other wars or conflicts that you have heard of. What were some of the conditions that soldiers have had to endure. Write 3-4 sentences please.
2. Students made Cause and Effect Chart #1 in their journals. Basically, make a T-chart. On one side, write the word Cause and the words 2-3 sentences under it. On the Effect side, write the word Effect. For #1, students wrote the following, "Britian had the better chance of winning the war". Students were responsible for giving me 2-3 reasons for this by reading page 145. Stop reading at Loyalists in the Colonies section.
3. Students made a chart labeled Reasons to Be Loyal to the Crown Chart. After reading pages 145-146, students wrote down three reasons why people would want to remain loyal to Great Britain.
4. As a carry over from LA, students worked on Parts of Speech Chart #2 in their journals in preparation for the test this Friday.

2. Persuasive Paragraph #1-Argue that the The Boston Massacre was or was not justified for either the colonists or the British soldiers. Provide reasons for your position. This must be at minimum a 6 sentence paragraph.

1. CNN 10 Freewrite #1-Many people argue that plastic is hurting our planet. Is California's partial ban on plastic straws enough? Or does more need to be done? In a 1/2 to a 1/3 of a page, in a freewrite format, express your opinion on this topic. Be sure to give reasons for your opinion. 1. Q.O.D.-Read page 59. Tell me 3 to 4 things people did for leisure or fun during colonial times. Please write 3 to 5 sentences.
2. Student wrote a menu, which consisted of breakfast, lunch, or dinner, for someone who lived during colonial times. Students added the section Colonial Menu to their Table of Contents. Then, they made a table with three sections: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Each meal needed to be a 3 course meal or a meal that contained 3 parts.
3. Students finished their Great Awakening Flyer.
