Parents & Students,
Welcome to our classroom web site. I am excited that you found your way to the class website. I will be using my website as one of my primary communication tools. Here you will be able to locate most if not all of your child’s assignments as well as classroom lecture notes and presentations. I am looking forward to getting to know all of my students.
“Getting to Know Mr. Quinn”
Teaching The 2019-2020 school year begins my 24th year as a teacher. I began my teaching career in the Poway Unified School District, where I taught kindergarten for two years. In 1998 I moved to Canyon Lake and began teaching in the Perris Union School District. I spent two years as a 6th grade before going back for one last year teaching kindergarten. After I became a teacher, I thought that someday it would be nice to teach in my local community school, so I transferred my career to LEUSD and took a job teaching 4th grade at Tuscany Hills Elementary. The very next year both Cottonwood Elementary and Canyon Lake Middle School opened and created an enrollment drop at Tuscany Hills Elementary, so I needed to relocate. Fortunately I choose to come to CLMS, where I taught math and science since the school opened its doors over 17 years ago. As CLMS begins it's 18th year, I am extremely excited that I was given the opportunity to teach computers. Over the years I have become known as the "tech guy" here at CLMS. I served as the CLMS technology coach and have given several technology workshops for other LEUSD teachers. In addition I have been the CLMS Yearbook advisor since the school first opened. Unfortunately during the first 17 years there was no class assigned to the yearbook and most of the book was completed by myself with help from my TA students and Mrs. Howard. Beginning this year, the yearbook will produced through my first period advanced computer class, which is also known as CLMS TV. Unofficially the class will now be called the CLMS Multimedia class, and will product both the biweekly CLMS entertainment show as well as the CLMS yearbook. :-) In addition, I will also be teaching a yearlong advanced computer elective and three computer literacy classes.
I currently live in Canyon Lake with my wife and two daughters, Ally and Tori. Both my daughters attended and were very involved here at CLMS and now they both attend Temescal High School. My oldest daughter Ally is a senior and my youngest daughter Tori is a sophomore. Ally and Tori are also members of the Varsity TCHS Dance Team and they both dance competitively at JDI. My wife is completing her 26th year as a Farmer’s Insurance claims representative and is fortunate enough to be able to work from home. When I am not teaching, I enjoy riding motocross, surfing, snowboarding/snow-skiing, tennis, and I am passionate about water-skiing. A few years ago I finally realized a life-long dream of qualifying and competing in the Western Regional Water-ski Championships. However now my girls' dance schedule has taken a huge chunk out of my personal hobbies.
