"Getting to Know Mr. Quinn"
Quinn
The 2022-2023 school year begins my 27th year as a teacher. I began my teaching career in the Poway Unified School District, where I taught kindergarten for two years. In 1998 I moved to Canyon Lake and began teaching in the Perris Union School District. I spent two years as a 6th grade teacher before going back for one last year teaching kindergarten. After I became a teacher, I thought that someday it would be nice to teach in my local community school, so I transferred my career to LEUSD and took a job teaching 4th grade at Tuscany Hills Elementary. The very next year both Cottonwood Elementary and Canyon Lake Middle School opened and created an enrollment drop at Tuscany Hills Elementary, so I needed to relocate. Fortunately I choose to come to CLMS, where I taught 6th grade math and science for the first 17 years before transitioning into the computer teacher. Over the years I have become known as the "tech guy" here at CLMS. I served as the CLMS technology coach and have given several technology workshops for other LEUSD teachers, so this was a natural fit for me. Becoming the "computer teacher" here at CLMS has been a goal of mine for many years, so when the position opened up in 2019 I jumped at the chance. I do however really miss teaching math and science, as I have a huge passion for teaching these subjects. After transitioning into the "computer teacher", I brought the same problem based teaching mindset over to my computer classes, where I teach a variety of topics, including, but not limited to, computer coding, CAD & 3D printing, robotics, graphic art, videography, and yearbook.

I currently live in Canyon Lake with my wife and two daughters, Ally and Tori. Both my daughters attended and were very involved here at CLMS. Both my daughters graduated from TCHS with honors and were members of the TCHS Varsity Dance Team. In addition, they danced competitively for JDI for several years. They both now are attending Northern Arizona University (NAU) and are living together in their own condo. :-) My oldest daughter Ally is a junior studying math, and Tori is a freshman studying kinesiology hoping one day to possibly become a physical therapist. My wife is completing her 29th year as a Farmer’s Insurance claims representative and is fortunate enough to be able to work from home. When I am not teaching, I enjoy riding motocross/desert, e-mountain biking, surfing, snowboarding/snow skiing, tennis, and I am passionate about water-skiing. A few years ago I finally realized a life-long dream of qualifying and competing in the Western Regional Water-ski Championships. Recently our family was fortunate enough to purchase a condo in the Town of Mammoth Lakes and my wife and I spend a lot of our free time there both snowboarding/snow skiing, hiking, riding bikes or just relaxing.
Thank you for taking the time to get a little perspective on who I am as a person. Please never hesitate to contact me regarding any questions or concerns you may have.
