3. After reading #2, students had to write a 6 to 8 sentence paragraph in which they persuade me to believe that J. Ersland either committed murder or acted in self defense.

2. Students made a section in their Table of Contents titled Teen Issues: Then & Now. Basically, you make a T-Chart.  On one side, label it Teen Issues Today and on the other side write the words Teen Issues in the 1960's. In each section, number it one to five. Students were challenged to think of 2 problems that exist today and back then as well as 3 problems that are relevant only to teens today.
3. Freewrite #5-Which character, from The Outsiders, would you like to have as friend? Why? Which character would you not like to have a friend? Why? Please a 1/3 of a page on this topic.

2. Students listened to chapter 3 of The Outsiders
3. Students made a section in their Table of Contents titled Comparing Socs and Greasers. They made two columns on this page.  For each side, students wrote down the following sections: Turf, Social Class, Clothing, Hairstyle, Cars, Behavior, and Attitude. Students were responsible for writing 1 to 2 bullets per section. (per. 1 only)

Everybody Else:
1. Students did Tuesday's DLR for Week 35
2. Students made a section in their Table of Contents labeled Identification Chart. Basically, there is 3 columns.  In the first column, all of the main characters of The Outsiders are listed. There are 10 main characters in the story The Outsiders. In the second section, it is titled Physical Traits. Students were responsible for writing 2-3 physical characteristics for each of the main characters. Lastly, in the last column write the words Personality Traits. In this section, write down 2-3 personality characteristics that fit each character. All of this information can be found in Chp. 1. A description of Randy Adderson and Bob Sheldon is found in Chp. 2.
3. Teacher showed students a picture of all of the actors and actresses that played the characters in the movie.  Addi tonally, the teacher described a few of the characters physical traits and personality traits.
4. Students finished listening to Chp. 2 of The Outsiders.

3. Students created a friendship contract in their journals.  Basically, there are three sections: A Friend Should Always, A Should Never, and A Friendship Should End When. Students need to write 3 complete sentences in each section. Title this assignment Friendship Contract.
4. Teacher discussed the difference between a clique and a gang. Students brainstormed possible characteristics of both of these.
5. Freewrite #3-Why is it so important for kids to belong to a clique or group? What are some of the advantages? Disadvantages? In a 1/3 to 1/2 of a page, address this topic by providing a response.

3.Students and the teacher read pages 582-583 of The Running Brook of Horror.
4.Students wrote the first two paragraphs of Argumentative Essay #2(per. 1 only) Obj: Is it better to live life on the edge, possibly hurting yourself severely, or even worse, or should one live life cautiously? Argue a particular side. In this 5 paragraph essay, you should have an introductory paragraph, 2 paragraphs for your position, a counterargument, and a conclusion. Additionally, 1 of 3 paragraphs in your body must contain evidence from The Running Brook of Horror.
6. Students wrote the first paragraph of Argumentative Essay #2 (per. 5 only)

2. Students finished up reading pages 578 to 581 of The Running Brook of Horror and answering the questions that go with this section.  1. What are two main characteristics of hamadryads that both separate them from other snakes and make them the most dangerous animals in the world? 2. Can music tame snakes? What is the method used by snake charmers to make snakes dance? 3. Why did Grace feel so attached to her new Indian cobra and nickname him "My Snake"? 4. Why was "My Snake" able to bite Grace when she was an expert in handling these dangerous reptiles?
