2. In students journals, they made a page in their Table of Contents which was labeled Vocab. Sentences #11. Students use each of the words on page 574 in a way that shows me they understand the meaning of each word.
3. Students and teacher read pages 576-577.
4.Then students do Reading Questions #1 assignment. 1. Who is Grace Wiley?
2. What did a famous writer describe as a "running brook of horror"? 3. What feat did Grace perform that the author of the selection would have believed to be impossible? 4. According to the author, what is the world's most deadly creature? How many people are killed every year in India alone by these creatures?

3. Students were responsible for editing their work as well as having 2 other students peer edit their essays as well in preparation for typing a final draft of their essay tomorrow.
Independent Study Students:
1. Numbers 2 and 3.  In the case of #3, as long as you edit it as well as have a parent or guardian do the same, you will receive full credit on the rough draft part of your essay.

Independent Study Students
1. Do #3.  For the Argumentative Graphic Organizer #1, please use this format. Use one whole page. Make 3 columns. The first column should be labeled Reason. Here, you will write 1 sentence that states a reason you are for or against child labor. In the second column, write the word Evidence.  In this spot, you will give 2-3 sentences, from one of the articles given, that supports your reason.  Lastly, label the last column Explanation.  In this location, you will explain how your evidence supports your reason. You will need 3 of these for this assignment  Here are 3 articles that can help you with this assignment:http://www.scholastic.com/browse/article.jsp?id=5422
The second link is a collection of articles related to child labor.  You only need to use 3 for your essay.
2. Also for number 3, make the Counterargument Graphic Organizer.Use one whole page. Make 3 columns. This graphic organizer should be set up in the same format as the Argumentative Graphic Organizer. The only difference is you need 2 of these.  Half of this graphic organizer will serve to represent the opposite side of your position. The other half of this graphic organizer will support your original position as well as cancel out the opposite side of your position.
