2. Verb Tenses Worksheet
3. Students set up Foreshadowing Examples chart in their journals. On the left, which was numbered 1 to 2, it says Example (Directly From Text). On the right, which is also numbered 1 to 2, it says What Event is Foreshadowed (2-3 sentences). Students needed to read pages 109-111 of "The Monkey's Paw" and find 2 examples of foreshadowing.
4. Teacher went over the definition of foreshadowing.

1. Monday's DLR for Week 12
2. We read pages 105-108. We stopped at line 80.
3. Identifying the Theme Obj: Read lines 73-77. In 4-5 sentences, identify the theme. Provide details to support your prediction of the theme.
4. Student made a chart in their journals titled Reasons For and Against Fate. On the left, it was titled Reasons For Fate. On the right, it is labeled Reasons Against Fate. Each side was numbered from 1 to 3.
5. We began Socratic Seminar #2 on the topic of whether or not fate exists.

1. Thursday's DLR for Week 11
2. Teacher explained tonight's homework
3. Students made the Horror Elements Chart in their journals. On the left, it says Elements of Horror. On the right, it says  How They Support Genre (2-3 sentences). Each side is numbered 1 to 5. By looking at the following website,
students needed to list 5 elements of horror and/or explain how they support this genre.

3. Teacher showed students proper and improper way to cite evidence.
4.  Obj: In a 6 sentence paragraph, discuss what makes the story so thought provoking. Provide textual evidence to support your thesis.

1. Monday's DLR for Week 11
2. Students read rest of 93 and 94 up to line 180.
3. Students worked on Citing Text Evidence on #2 in their journals. Student made a T-chart in their journals. On the left side, it was labeled Question. On the right side, it said Answers. Answers need to be 2-3 sentences long. 1. Reread lines 103-115. Find examples of how Poe creates suspense. 2. Reread lines 130-142. How does the narrator try to convince readers that he is sane and reliable? 3. Look at lines 170-178. What does the narrator think the sound is?

1. Students finished their Monster Reports.
2. DLR Quiz #10 (per. 2 only)
3. Students read page 92. Then, with a piece of paper, they titled it chain of events. They wrote the words first, then, next, and finally. After each word, they summarized what has happened so far in "A Tell Tale Heart". Do this activity with only lines 116-122. (per. 2 only)

1. Tuesday's DLR for Week 10
2. We read pages 89-91 of "The Tell Tale Heart".
3. Think Pair Share #1 Basically, in pairs, students answered 2 questions.
A. What do you predict will happen next? Why? B. How does the psychology of the narrator-his thought process and mental state-affect his description of the events. All answers should be 2-3 sentences long.
4. We continued to do oral presentations on their Monster Reports.

1. Students worked on Monday's DLR for Week 10
2. Students watched The Simpson's version of "A Tell Tale Heart".
3. Students worked on Vocab Sentences #2. Basically, students used the words on page 97 in sentences that show me they understand the meaning of the words given.
4. Students began doing their speeches on their monsters that they wrote about on Thursday and Friday.
