2. As a class, we read Jefferson Scales Back Gov't and Some Economic Policies on 197-198. 
3. In pairs, with students on opposite sides, students argued whether or not Jefferson was able to successfully maintain national security and create a stable economic system during his presidency.

2. We finished reading "from Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglas an American Slave".
3. Students worked on questions 3 and 4 for Citing Text Evidence Chart #5. 3. Reread lines 84-92. Explain what happens as result of the dialogue. Why was the dialogue so interesting and what effect did it have on him? 4. Reread lines 112-120. Explain what Douglas believed his ability to read had caused.

Freewrite #1Obj: In about a 3rd to half of a page, explain how the Sedition Act contradicts the 1st amendment. Freewrite #2 Obj: After reading the article provided by the teacher, show how Alien Act is similar to the deportation of many illegal immigrants in this country. How was what happened during the time Alien Act similar and different to what has taken place in the U.S. within the last few years? Write a 1/3 to 1/2 of a page on this topic.

1. Q.O.D.-Read Adam's Foreign Policy Divides the Federalists on 192-193. In 3-4 sentences, tell me the outcome of the proposed war with France. Did we end going to war with France or did something else happen? Was Washington's neutrality policy upheld?
2. Students worked on Conflict With France Questions. 1. Why was France angry that the U.S. remained neutral during the war between France and Britian? 2. Why did France seize American ships and how did America respond? 3. How did Adams respond to the XYZ Affair and continued attacks on U.S. ships? 4. If Adams opposed war, why did he increase the size of the the navy?

4. Students began thinking about Role Play #2 Obj: In pairs, make a page to a page and a half conversation between a reporter and either T. Jefferson or A. Hamilton. Conversations should consist of a series of questions by the reporter and one of the gentlemen mentioned. T. Jefferson or A. Hamilton should respond to questions based on how they felt about various political issues. Be prepared to present in front of class.
